Prophecy is a sign for believers

Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. (I Corinthians 14:22)

I have just in explained in my previous post, that God uses unintelligible tongues as a sign of impending judgment for unbelievers, not for believers. God, instead, gives the gift of prophecy for believers, who are faithfully following and trusting Him. Prophecy, here, is God’s clear commands in human language that can be easily understood and applied to our personal lives. Prophecy involves preaching the word of God with clarity and authority. This is what Pastors are doing when they open up the Scriptures to us on Sunday morning and are telling us what God’s directions for us are. The church is supposed to focus on Prophecy, not unintelligible tongues,in public services. Tongues may only be used if there is an interpreter. Otherwise they only cause confusion and disorder.
