In the verse below the Apostle Paul explains why the church will no longer need prophets and theologians in heaven:
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror;then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (I Corinthians 13:12 NIV).
The reason why the church needs prophecy and theology right now, is because our knowledge of God and truth is very limited. Right now we are capable of only seeing a reflection as in a mirror. We can get a glimpse of God’s truth, but we cannot understand or experience all of it. Prophecy and theology helps us learn what we can, and is very important during our lives on Earth. God has appointed prophets and teachers to help others see the truth better. But in heaven there will be no need of prophets or theologians because God will be fully revealed to each of us. We shall all see face to face. Now we only know in part the truths of heaven, but then we shall know God fully, even to the extent by which we are already fully known to God.
