But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. (I Corinthians 11:28)
It is important for Christians to individually examine himself before they communion. It is not the primary responsibility of your church leaders to judge you to see if you are ready to take communion. Yes, it is their job to warn you to be ready. They need to warn you that only believers should take communion, and that you should confess your conscious sins before you take it, and that you should not be distracted by lust while you are taking communion. But ultimately, your church leaders cannot see your heart. That is why it is primarily your responsibility to decide whether or not you are ready to take communion. You must only eat of the bread and drink the blood when you are ready, otherwise you are sinning against the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
