American Christians Need To Stay Out Of Bondage

You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings. (I Corinthians 7:23)

We who are Christians were bought by God with the blood of Christ. Therefore God owns us, and we should not become slaves of human beings. Below is a brief listing of some ways in which we might be tempted to give up our freedom.

Some Christians violate this principle by the way in which they get in FINANCIAL DEBT. They make expensive unwise purchases, that force them to work long hours at jobs they don’t necessarily like in order to pay the debt off. These people do not have the financial freedom to do a lot good things that God might have wanted them to do, such as go to the mission field, or raise a large family, or stay home with the kids. Their bondage to the credit card keeps them from serving God more fully.

Other Christians violate this principle in ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS. They bind themselves to partners who do not love God. These people will keep them from serving God the way they should.
