The Rulers Of Our Age Do Not Understand True Wisdom

The Gospel message, which true believers in Jesus Christ preach, is God’s wisdom revealed to man. For a long time it was kept hidden, but God had always planned to reveal it since “before time began:”

we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. (I Corinthians 2:7 NIV).

All humans are sinners who maliciously blaspheme against God with our actions and hurt others. The message of the gospel is that our relationship with God can be restored because of the great sacrifice that He made on Our behalf. We need to believe in His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for us, and repent of our sins, and then God will save us.

Our secular leaders and intellectuals do not understand this great wisdom. From their standpoint it is the stupidest thing ever. But they are wrong. They are the ones who are fools:

None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (I Corinthians 2:8 NIV).

The leaders of our day and age are just as guilty of crucifying Jesus as the leaders of Paul day. You can bet that all our intellectuals and cultural leaders would have been consenting to his death of they had been there. Even today they do the best to crucify His memory. They tell us that He didn’t die for our sins, He didn’t raise us from the dead, and that we cannot find eternal salvation in Him. Their motivation for attacking His memory is the same motivation that the Pharisees had for killing him in the first place: arrogance and love of power. They see themselves as rulers of the universe, and in order for them to retain their position of leadership in this world they must dispose of the one True ruler of the universe, Jesus Christ. But their attempts will fail because He really truly is the “Lord of Glory,” and someday He will come back and hold them accountable for their rebellion.
