In our my last post I discussed how true believers are given the ability to progress in speech and knowledge in Christ. That means that God trains us to use loving, truthful communication after we repent and believe in Christ, and blesses us with true spiritual wisdom, the kind that the world neither understands or accepts.
Thus we are ready to face the spiritual and moral dilemmas that constantly confront us:
Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed (I Corinthians 1:7).
The point here is that God has given the Corinthians church everything they needed to move forward. The Corinthian church had a lot of problems. They were centered in an extremely wicked city, so most of them came from families that had not known God. There were a lot of problems in this church, but God had given them the spiritual gifts to address these problems.
Likewise, our churches today, if they indeed contain many true believers, have the gifts necessary to move forward in Christ and live Godly, holy lives. These gifts are there if you will use them. You must lay hold of them by studying the Bible, praying for each other, acting in the Spirit (being patient, gentle, forgiving with one another), and dealing with sin corporately. We will focus much on how to utilize God’s gifts to the church as we go through this book of I Corinthians.
