Don’t take Grace for Granted

There are many things we can thank God for. What things are on the top of your thankfulness list? The Apostle Paul had “grace” on the top of his:

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus (I Corinthians 1:4 NIV).

The Apostle Paul was an evangelist. He put a lot of time and effort into convincing people that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He must be believed on for salvation. But Paul knew that his efforts alone did not result in people’s salvation. When someone is truly converted it is the result of the Holy Spirit working inside their heart. So Paul constantly thanks God for those who have been saved and who have continued on in the faith. He does not take their salvation for granted. He is constantly rejoicing over how far they have come, and pleading with God that they might still grow more in their knowledge of Him.

We need to do the same. We need to take time to thank God for the grace He has given to us and the other Christians we know. We must pray humbly for continued growth and perserverence in ourselves and others. We must never take salvation or spiritual progress for granted.
