There is perhaps nothing more important for us as Christians to do than to tell the gospel to others. One of the things that the Apostle Paul was concerned about most while he was in prison was that he would not get many good opportunities to speak the gospel to new people. So he included the following prayer request in his letter to the Colossians:
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. (Colossians 4:3-4 NIV).
So Paul prayers here for opportunity, and for clarity of communication. We need to be constantly proclaiming the gospel, yet there is a lot of damage that can be done if we don’t “proclaim it clearly” as we should. So we need to proclaim it often and proclaim it truly.
