If you are a a real Christian, than everything you do needs to be motivated by your love for Christ. A true believer knows that anything that is not done to glorify God is absolutely worthless:
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:17 NIV).
The Apostle Paul states bluntly here that we need to glorify God in all we do or say. This command must be taken literally; we must make living for Christ our conscious goal for whatever we do. Our focus, as we serve Him, cannot be on a vague concept of “God,” but on the one true God who has revealed Himself to us through the Person of Jesus Christ. In order to glorify God we must specifically glorify Christ, whom God has appointed as the mediator between God and man (I Timothy 2:5). We must be thankful that God has His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, for without His sacrifice we would be cut off from God forever.
