It is not our job to force people to treat us the way we deserve

People mistreat us all the time, that’s a fact. And yet this is no excuse for us to dishonor those whom God has put over us. In the last few blog posts I have emphasized the fact that Christian wives need to submit to their husbands, children to their parents, and slaves/employees to their masters/bosses (Colossians 3:18-24). Some Christians are rebellious, and make all kinds of excuses for not submitting to those whom God has given legitimate authority over them. But we need to swallow our pride and exercise love and obedience to those who rule over us, even though they might be evil and vindictive. It is not our job to force them to treat us the way that we deserve. God Himself will deal with them if they mistreat us:

Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism. (Colossians 3:25 NIV)
