Jesus should be your entire life

Being a Christian is not a hobby: it is one’s entire life. Everything you do must be done to honor the one Whom you serve. You must live by Jesus and for Jesus:

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV)

When you became a Christian you claimed to receive Christ Jesus as Lord. If He is your Lord then He is your master. Therefore, unless your claim to be a Christian is a lie, you will joyful want to live your life in Him. Your motivations will be the same things that motivated Him. Everything you do will be characterized by love and humility. You will look out for the interests of other people before your own interests. Furthermore, your life will be defined for what He did for you on the cross, how He shed His blood for your sins. Since you love Him you will allow yourself to be rooted and built up in Him. You will know Him better and acquire wisdom, not on account of your own intelligence, but through the power of God, who gives true knowledge to those who submit to it in humility. When you yield to Jesus and yearn for a greater relationship with Him, you will be strengthened in the faith, which you learned as you were taught by godly men whose genuine lives you have observed. The result of your faith will be a greater appreciation for what God has done for you, which can only result in you overflowing with thankfulness.
