You should always be suspicious about preachers that only preach vaguely about God, and rarely talk in detail about Jesus Christ. True preaching focuses about God, and about His Son Jesus Christ, Lord of All, who died for us:
He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. (Colossians 1:28-29 NIV)
The goal of good preaching to believers is to “present everyone fully mature in Christ.” But you cannot be made mature in Christ if you are not taught about Christ. Preachers need to “strenuously contend with all energy” provided by Christ to preach the truth about Christ. If you are attending a church where Christ is rarely preached, where His blood and sacrifice and atonement for our sins is rarely mentioned, you should stop going there. You cannot grow to maturity in Christ by listening to preaching that rarely mentions Him for who He is and what He has done.
