God does not tolerate abuse in a marriage

“Then there’s the weed of abuse. And this warrants an entire sermon; every one of these weeds really warrants an entire sermon. It is shocking to see the rise of domestic abuse: physical, sexual, verbal. And contrary to past generations where abuse was almost exclusively a husband to wife sin, more and more men are now being abused by their wives. It’s one of the most shocking statistics in our world today, and in my opinion it’s just another manifestation of the role-reversal that has overtaken us. Proverbs 29:22 says ‘an angry man stirs up strife, and a hot tempered man abounds in transgression.” That uncontrolled anger leads to abuse, which can be physical, it can be verbal, I Corinthians 5:11 identifies the reviler, verbal abuser, as one who is worthy of church-discipline. That’s how seriously God views abuse.”
