Worship of a lifestyle may destroy your marriage

“Then there is the weed of materialism. This is the love of the world, the love of the world that is destroying so many marriages. Couples often enter marriage with a certain style of living expectation, and when that doesn’t happen, when the car looks different, when the house looks different than expected, the clothes look different, their just is not that high standard of living that was expected, then discontentment comes in, and the love of the world begins to erode at the foundation of that marriage, like the shallow professor of faith in Christ in Jesus parable of the four soils who falls because of the deceitfulness of riches, so many fall away from marriage because of the deceitfulness of riches. The traditional marriages vows contain this statement: ‘for better or for’ or what? ‘for worse, for richer or for poorer.’ It’s no wonder that so many people today don’t use those vows anymore.”
