Christians must be careful not to read too much symbolism into the Bible’s description of the New Jerusalem described in Revelation 21. We must regard this city as a very real place, since it is where true believers will spend eternity with God. Throughout the Bible we are reminded of the importance of taking God’s promise of an eternal reward seriously. Jesus said:
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:2-4 NIV)
Heaven, or the New Jerusalem, or whatever you want to call it is very real. Do not mock it or denigrate it since it is the only eternal hope that mankind has. This is where believers will spend eternity with God.
