Then I heard another voice from heaven say:
“‘Come out of her, my people,’
so that you will not share in her sins,
so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
5 for her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her crimes.
6 Give back to her as she has given; (Revelation 18:4-6)
In this passage God is warning those who claim to be believers to come out of “Babylon” or suffer punishment. All those who really are “my people” will come out in the end so as not to be perpetually punished with her.
Babylon, in an eschatological sense is a very real nation/culture that will rise in the last days and seduce all the people of the world to sin. But it is also symbolic of the entire world system of evil that already exists. You may be ensnared by “Babylon” if you:
involved in the drunkenness culture/industry .
Involved in the pornographic culture/industry.
Involved in the abortion culture/industry
Seduced by materialism.
flee from the Babylonians!
Announce this with shouts of joy
and proclaim it.
Send it out to the ends of the earth;
say, “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.”
21 They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts;
he made water flow for them from the rock;
he split the rock
and water gushed out.
22 “There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.” (Isaiah 48:20-22)
“Come out of her, my people!
Run for your lives!
Run from the fierce anger of the Lord.
46 Do not lose heart or be afraid
when rumors are heard in the land;
one rumor comes this year, another the next,
rumors of violence in the land
and of ruler against ruler.
47 For the time will surely come
when I will punish the idols of Babylon;
her whole land will be disgraced
and her slain will all lie fallen within her.
48 Then heaven and earth and all that is in them
will shout for joy over Babylon,
for out of the north
destroyers will attack her,”
declares the Lord.
49 “Babylon must fall because of Israel’s slain,
just as the slain in all the earth
have fallen because of Babylon.
50 You who have escaped the sword,
leave and do not linger!
Remember the Lord in a distant land,
and call to mind Jerusalem.” (Jeremiah 51:45-50)
