Do your life choices allow you to rest?

Do your life choices allow you to rest? I’m not talking about physical rest, here: I am talking about spiritual rest. You think that by following your own desires you will be happy. You think by living a high “quality of life”, chasing after a career, or working on humanitarian projects designed to make other people admire you, you can make yourself contented. But true rest is not found in flattering yourself. True rest is only found in those who give deny their lusts and surrender to Jesus. Why do you keep doing things that make you unhappy. You know that girls, cars, and artificial relationships are not going to help you. Rather than trying to hold on to these things, let them go, give up living for this life, and live for the next one. For those who take the uncoventional route and follow the Lord, Jesus has this promise:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-29 NIV)

Yes, God will give rest for the humble and weak who ask for it. But to those who try to “rest” at the expense of others there will be no rest. If you make other people bear the pains for your “leisure” and do not repent and be born again, you will go to hell along with all other unbelievers. You, like the people living in the end times who take the mark of the Beast will be forced to pay the price for rejecting the “Lamb” that was slain for you. You will find no rest there.

A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its imageand receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” (Revelation 14:10-11 NIV)
