A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. (Revelation 14:9-10)
The Bible is very clear that anyone who takes the mark of the beast on their hand or on their forehead will spend eternity in hell. At some point in the future, during Daniel’s “70th week” the world ruler known as the “beast” will come to prominence. He will display supernatural power and wonders so as to seemingly offer an alternative for those who do not wish to worship the one true God. However, those who take his mark and worship him must be punished for eternity by the one true God. The “holy angels” and the “Lamb” will observe them being sentenced to hell. This may seem harsh, but the picture of Christ appearing as a “lamb” in this passage reminds us that there always was a way out for them, if only they would accept it. The “lamb” loves all people and died for all people. He loved them first, while they still hated him. But those who do not accept his love, who prefer to keep hating him, must be punished.
Wickedness, hate, and selfishness must all be punished. A goood God cannot ignore it.
