What The Elders Do With Their Crowns

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11 You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.” (Revelation 4:9-11)

Whenever the living creatures described in verses 6-8 raise their voices to praise God (which by the way, is a constant occurrence),  then the 24 enthroned elders described in verse 4 come off their thrones, fall down before him and lay their crowns before His throne as they worship him. There reason for doing so is simple and straight forward: He deserves it because he created all things.

There are many human beings today who do not get this. They are not willing to praise the one true God who created them. Much of the rest of the book of Revelation describes the awesome and terrifying judgment that they justly bring upon themselves by not worshiping our great God.
