Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. (Revelation 2:17)
The promise in this verse is not just to the seven churches of Asia Minor, but to whomever is listening. Jesus promises to give “hidden manna” to the one who “is victorious.” Manna was divine food given by God to the children of Israel when the wandered in the wilderness (exodus 16). The Spiritual Manna that He is talking about here is spiritual food which will eternally satisfy those who are true believers. The emphasis on it being “hidden” manna invokes the memory of the Manna that was stored before the Lord in the Ark of the Covenant (exodus 16:33). Therefore this spiritual food that God is promising us is Holy food, and it is not available to those who continue to live in their sins. Those who eat of this food must be washed of their sins by the blood of Christ.
