“To the angel[a] of the church in Ephesus write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. (Revelation 2:1)
In opening His letter to the church at Ephesus, Jesus reminds the church that He is the one who “holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.” The lampstands and the stars represent the churches themselves (1:20). So He is essentially pointing out that He is their boss and that they report to Him. Therefore they must treat His words with the most respect.
Many churches forget that Jesus is His boss. They think that they exist only to serve humanity. Yes, Christ requires us to serve other humans, but not at an expense of our personal service to Him. Those who have stopped serving Christ will be severely reprimanded when He comes back to Earth.
