“Zion will be redeemed with justice
And her [k]repentant ones with righteousness.” (Isaiah 1:27 NASB)
The Jewish people in their capitol of Jerusalem will once again worship God with their whole heart someday. Their redemption has, in a sense, already happened, since the redemption of all souls is based on the finished work of Christ. However, this prophecy is still future, because the “repentant ones” mentioned here have not yet repented, and justice does not reign in Israel. We know from the words of another prophet that Israel’s repentance will happen at the end of the tribulation period when they see the one they have “pierced”(Zechariah 12:10-14).
