Your silver has become dross,

God continues His condemnation of Jerusalem with these colorful metaphors. If you take this verse literally it means that the silver and wine in the city was of low quality as a result of God’s punishment on their economy. I don’t know if that was true or not, but the spiritual lesson here is obvious: They had polluted the good heritage or righteousness that God had given them and filled the land with iniquity.
