God’s Great Promise To The Individual

Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24 NIV)

Some people say that you cannot know for sure what God requires of us, or you will be forgiven for your sins. But God, in His mercy, has chosen to make the path to salvation clear. That is why Jesus starts this sentence with the phrase “very truly.” He wants to emphasize that it is truth you can believe in. He promises clearly here that those who accept His words and believe in God will have eternal life.

Those who do not do this still face eternal death, because they have not yet “crossed over from death to life.”

Which land are you in right now: the land of destruction or the land of salvation? Believe and cross over the chasm through the power of Christ’s blood.
