Shrines have no place in Christianity

New Testament Christianity has no place in it for worshiping at shrine. I view a shrine as a place where worshippers gather in order to get a special blessing for their physical proximity to an important geographical location and/or artifact. But God does not give special blessings for visiting shrines in the New Testament. God is more concerned about where our hearts are, not where our bodies are.

“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem… true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:21, 23-24)
