Righteousness is a lot more than “not doing bad stuff”

Some people think they can be good people simply by doing no evil. But the Bible says:

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” (James 4:17)

It is not good enough, then, for us not to do “bad stuff.” We need to be always on the lookout for ways to do good. This often means we will have to give up our personal time, money, and pleasure, to do what God wants us to do.
