Moral Filth, not righteous anger, is usually the cause of your hatred for others

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speakand slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. (James 1:19-21)

The passage above clearly states that “human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” instead, it produces self righteousness.  The “therefore” in verse 21 strongly implies that the source of our hatred for others is really “moral filth,” not a love of truth and goodness. We must love our enemies, not hate them. We must pity them, knowing that we ourselves are sinners like them. No one should consider himself any better than the worst sinner.
