“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” (I Peter 4:9 NIV)
True Christians are commanded to offer genuine, heartfelt hospitality to each other. Unfortunately, in many churches today the spirit of hospitality is not fostered. Instead, many Christians keep their distance from each other and do not allow each other to intrude in their lives, even to help them.
It is always dangerous for a Christian to isolate himself from other Christians. We should try to help out our brothers and sisters in Christ. There are many ways that we can be hospitable. For example, we should open up our homes for people visiting our church from far away, especially missionaries and public speakers. We should let them stay in our spare bedroom rather than have to sleep in an impersonal hotel room that costs money. This way we can get to know them and we can be a blessing to them and they can be a blessing to us.
