A Church Pulpit Is No Place To Take A Risk

“If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.” (I Peter 4:11a, NIV)

I believe that there is far too much haphazard preaching taking place from American pulpits (especially on TV). American preachers need to have the certainty that they are speaking “as one who speaks the very words of God.” They need to be absolutely certain that what they are saying is correct. They should be careful not to experiment with methods or doctrine simply for the sake of attracting crowds.

Preachers should always do research ahead of time to make sure that what they are planning to say is true and worded correctly. They should also pray to God and ask Him to give them the ability to preach the truth. No one should trust in their own skill as a preacher. They must ask God to show them if anything they are planning to say is wrong.
