“Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.” (I Peter 4:1-2 NIV)
True Christians are motivated by what pleases God, not what satisfies their fleshly desires. Someone who is motivated primarily by self-centereddesires is not a believer. Therefore, all true Christians should make sure that they are not:
1. Primarily motivated by sex. Many so-called Christians are infatuated with sexual conversation and pornography. Their life revolves around schemes as to how to get into bed with a beautiful women. The vast majority of these people would go directly to hell if they died today, because they do not believe in the God of the Bible. If they had real faith in God they would be infatuated with serving Him instead of getting sex.
2. Primarily motivated by money.
3. Primarily motivated by their career
4. Primarily motivated by popularity. Many “religious” people fall into this category. They do a lot of good deeds so that people will notice them and think they are good people. But if they are not honestly serving the one true God from their heart they will still go to hell, because they only do good out of a selfish motivation: to make themselves look good and others look bad.
