“Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.” (I Peter 3:1-2)
The proper ambition of all godly women, and indeed all godly people, is to display “purity and reverence” in their lives.
Reverence involves showing respect to the authority, even if they are corrupt! This is an essential part of Christianity. But human beings do not naturally want to show reverence to others, because they are selfish and want to look out for “me first.” True Christians need to learn to let the other person get what they want many times, even when the other person is mean and annoying. Christians must be humble!
Purity involves being motivated by a desire to serve the one living God, rather than a desire to serve one’self. Christians should not take any delight or joy in things that do not honor or elevate God in their minds and in the minds of those around them. NO SIN!
