“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.” (II John 1:10-11)
The Apostle John using strong words in this passage to warn us to stay true to the “teaching of Christ” (verse 9). We are not to associate ourselves with false teachers who openly deny some of the core truths of Christianity. John says that anyone who denies that Jesus is the Son of God is an “antichrist” (I John 2:22-23).
It is common for many Christians to break this rule in the name of the ecumenical movement. Many Bible believing pastors have endorsed false teachers as their brothers in Christ. Something similar to this happened in my home church recently. A praise band from a gospel-believing church conducted a worship service at another church that openly denies the bodily resurrection of Christ . I believe the praise band should not have done this, because “Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work” (II John 1:11).
