If you hate your enemy, you do not love God.

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” (I John 4:20)

John once again makes the very powerful point that true Christians do not hate others. We may sometimes lose our cool and sin by thinking hateful thoughts against others. However, we cannot hate them continually, even our worst enemies (Matthew 5:44), because we have been commanded to love them and the love of God is in us.
